Floor Refinishing

Hardwood floor refinishing is a process filled with dust and noise. We come prepared with the necessary dust masks, respirators, ear protection, and goggles. We also ensure that doorways are sealed off with plastic to protect the spread of debris, as well as having a preference that HVAC systems are deactivated so dust does not circulate through your house.

There are two approaches that we take to refinishing hardwood floors.

Buffing is the easier solution. If you have any type of scratched or worn areas on the visible surface finishing, the wood beneath is in good shape. We can restore the topcoat by buffing with a process called screening.

By using floor buffing tools, we’ll carry out a process by using a series of ‘screen grits’ that manage the restoration process which will bring back the luster in your floor’s topcoat. Our buffing tool takes a much softer approach than a heavy-duty drum sander.

The refinishing process of your floors will be carried out with low-VOC water-based finish or polyurethane floor finish.

It is challenging to buff any hardwood floors which are waxed or treated with oil-based soap. This residue is necessary to remove, first, or the finished product will appear blotchy and visually unappealing.

Sanding and refinishing hardwood flooring will provide the oppuntity to totally restore old, beat up flooring. It also will create the opportunity to change the color of hardwood flooring with stain.
